**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions** pc-kernel versions prior to and including 2019-07-16 **Description** The issue is related to the pc-kernel snap build process, which hardcoded the --allow-insecure-repositories and --allow-unauthenticated apt options when creating the build chroot environment. This could allow an attacker who is able to perform a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack between the build environment and the Ubuntu archive to install a malicious package within the build chroot. The vulnerability is associated with insufficient authentication of data, which may enable a remote attacker to implement a MITM attack using a specially crafted malicious package. **Recommendations** For pc-kernel versions prior to and including 2019-07-16, consider disabling the use of --allow-insecure-repositories and --allow-unauthenticated apt options in the build chroot environment as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the build environment to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the build chroot environment until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
