Linux · Linux Kernel · CVE-2008-5701
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.28-rc8
**Description**
The issue is related to an array index error in the Linux kernel on 64-bit MIPS platforms. It allows local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a system crash, by making an o32 syscall with a small syscall number. This leads to an attempted read operation outside the bounds of the syscall table.
**Recommendations**
For Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.28-rc8, update to version 2.6.28-rc8 or later to resolve the issue.
