| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Windows 95 and Windows 98
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically traffic amplification, via a certain ICMP echo (ping) packet. This occurs when the systems are configured with multiple TCP/IP stacks bound to the same MAC address, causing all stacks to send a ping response.
Recommendations
For Windows 95 and Windows 98, consider reconfiguring the TCP/IP stacks to prevent multiple bindings to the same MAC address as a temporary workaround to minimize the risk of exploitation.
