CVE-2001-0540

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Windows NT and Windows 2000
Description: A memory leak in Terminal servers allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a large number of malformed Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) requests to port 3389.
Recommendations: For Windows NT and Windows 2000, restrict access to port 3389 to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider limiting the number of concurrent RDP connections to prevent memory exhaustion. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
