5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Symantec Ghost versions 6.5 and earlier
Description:
The issue allows a remote attacker to create a denial of service by sending large amounts of data to the Ghost Configuration Server on port 1347. This triggers an error that is not properly handled, leading to a denial of service.
Recommendations:
For Symantec Ghost versions 6.5 and earlier, consider restricting access to the Ghost Configuration Server on port 1347 to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limit the amount of data that can be sent to the server to prevent triggering the error. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
