| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Windows 2000
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically CPU consumption, by flooding the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) UDP port 500 with packets containing a large number of dot characters.
Recommendations
For Windows 2000, consider restricting access to UDP port 500 to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, implement rate limiting on IKE packets to prevent CPU consumption due to flooding. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
