CVE-2001-1283
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Ipswitch IMail versions 7.04 and earlier
Description:
The issue affects the webmail interface, allowing remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service by providing a mailbox name with a large number of characters, potentially due to a buffer overflow that may allow execution of arbitrary code. This can be achieved through programs such as
readmail.cgi or printmail.cgi.Recommendations:
For Ipswitch IMail versions 7.04 and earlier, consider restricting access to the webmail interface until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, limit the length of mailbox names to prevent potential buffer overflows.
