CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
ICQ versions 2001a Alpha and earlier
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to automatically add arbitrary UINs to an ICQ user's contact list. This is achieved via a URL to a web page with a Content-Type of application/x-icq, which is processed by Internet Explorer.
Recommendations:
For ICQ versions 2001a Alpha and earlier, consider restricting access to the contact list feature until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using Internet Explorer to access ICQ web pages that may contain malicious Content-Type headers. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
