CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Gauntlet Firewall versions 5.0 through 6.0
Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the smap/smapd and CSMAP daemons, which can be exploited by remote attackers through a crafted mail message, allowing them to execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For Gauntlet Firewall versions 5.0 through 6.0, consider disabling the smap/smapd and CSMAP daemons as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to these daemons to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
