Description A buffer overflow issue exists in the setiathome component of SETI@home, potentially allowing local users to execute arbitrary code via long command line options, specifically socks server, socks user, and socks passwd, if setiathome is installed setuid.
Recommendations For SETI@home version 3.03, consider removing the setuid installation to prevent potential exploitation, as the default configuration is not setuid. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
