| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Solaris versions 8 and earlier
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a job request with a crafted control file that is not properly handled when the lpd daemon invokes a mail program.
Recommendations
For Solaris versions 8 and earlier, consider disabling the lpd daemon until a patch is available. Restrict access to the lpd daemon to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the lpd daemon for handling job requests from untrusted sources until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
