Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
SAS/Base versions 8.0 through 8.1
SAS/Integration Technologies versions 8.0 through 8.1
Description
The issue allows local users to execute arbitrary code via format specifiers in a command line argument. This is due to a format string vulnerability in the sastcpd component of SAS/Base and the objspawn component of SAS/Integration Technologies.
Recommendations
For SAS/Base versions 8.0 through 8.1, consider restricting access to the sastcpd component until a fix is available.
For SAS/Integration Technologies versions 8.0 through 8.1, consider disabling the objspawn component as a temporary workaround to minimize the risk of exploitation.
