CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Internet Explorer versions 5.x through 6.x
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary script in documents that the user does not expect, possibly through web applications that use a
text/plain type to prevent cross-site scripting attacks. This occurs because Internet Explorer interprets an object as an HTML document even when its MIME Content-Type is text/plain.Recommendations
For Internet Explorer versions 5.x through 6.x, consider disabling the execution of scripts in documents with a
text/plain MIME Content-Type as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to web applications that use the text/plain type to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
