CVE-2002-0423

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions efingerd versions 1.5 and earlier, and possibly up to 1.61
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via a finger request from an IP address with a long hostname that is obtained via a reverse DNS lookup.
Recommendations For efingerd versions 1.5 and earlier, and possibly up to 1.61, consider restricting access to the finger service until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the finger service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
