CVE-2002-0822
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Ethereal versions 0.9.4 and earlier
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via the (1) SOCKS, (2) RSVP, (3) AFS, or (4) LMP dissectors, which can be caused to core dump.
Recommendations:
For Ethereal versions 0.9.4 and earlier, consider disabling the dissectors for SOCKS, RSVP, AFS, and LMP as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to these dissectors to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
