CVE-2002-1061
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Thomas Hauck Jana Server versions 1.4.6 and earlier
Thomas Hauck Jana Server versions 2.x through 2.2.1
Description:
The issue concerns multiple buffer overflows that can be triggered by remote attackers, potentially leading to a denial of service and possibly the execution of arbitrary code. This can occur through various means, including an HTTP GET request with a long major version number, an HTTP GET request to the HTTP proxy on port 3128 with a long major version number, a long OK reply from a POP3 server, and a long SMTP server response.
Recommendations:
For Thomas Hauck Jana Server versions 1.4.6 and earlier, update to a version later than 1.4.6.
For Thomas Hauck Jana Server versions 2.x through 2.2.1, update to a version later than 2.2.1.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the HTTP proxy on port 3128 and limiting the length of OK replies from POP3 servers and SMTP server responses until a patch is available.
