CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Sun Solaris versions 2.5.1 through 9
Description:
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the Dispatch() routine for the XFS font server. This can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a system crash, or to execute arbitrary code via a certain XFS query.
Recommendations:
For Sun Solaris versions 2.5.1 through 9, consider disabling the XFS font server until a patch is available to prevent potential exploitation. Restrict access to the Dispatch() routine to minimize the risk of a denial of service or arbitrary code execution.
