Description
A buffer overflow issue exists in the backup utility, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code. This is achieved by placing a filename with a long extension in a folder that is to be backed up.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows 95, consider applying configuration changes to restrict the use of long filename extensions in backup operations as a temporary mitigation measure. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
