Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft Windows 2000
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in memory consumption, by sending a flood of empty TCP/IP packets with the ACK and FIN bits set to the NetBIOS port (TCP/139).
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows 2000, consider restricting access to the NetBIOS port (TCP/139) to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, implement network traffic filtering to block empty TCP/IP packets with the ACK and FIN bits set.
