| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco IOS versions 11.1 through 12.2
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in CPU consumption, by sending randomly sized UDP packets to the Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP) port 1985. This occurs when HSRP support is not enabled.
Recommendations
For Cisco IOS versions 11.1 through 12.2, consider disabling the HSRP protocol or restricting access to port 1985 as a temporary workaround to minimize the risk of exploitation.
