Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PFinger version 0.7.8
Description
A buffer overflow issue exists, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long query value passed to certain options, including the finger program, -l, -d, and -t options. However, if PFinger is not setuid or setgid, this issue does not cross privilege boundaries.
Recommendations
For PFinger version 0.7.8, consider restricting access to the finger program and the -l, -d, and -t options until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
