CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
BIND versions 4 and 8
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to conduct DNS cache poisoning via a birthday attack. This attack uses a large number of open queries for the same resource record (RR) combined with spoofed responses, increasing the possibility of successfully spoofing a response in a way that is more efficient than brute force methods.
Recommendations:
For BIND versions 4 and 8, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current versions are prone to DNS cache poisoning attacks.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
