CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
DB4Web versions 3.4 through 3.6
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a specially crafted HTTP request. This can be achieved by specifying a filename in the form of a drive letter (e.g., C:), an absolute path with double-slash (//), or a dot-dot (..) notation.
Recommendations
For DB4Web versions 3.4 through 3.6, consider restricting access to the db4web c and db4web c.exe programs until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using filenames that could be interpreted as absolute paths or drive letters in HTTP requests to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
