CVE-2003-0167
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Mutt versions 1.3.28 and earlier
Balsa versions 1.2.4 and earlier
Description:
The issue is related to multiple off-by-one buffer overflows in the IMAP capability. A remote malicious IMAP server can cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted mail folder.
Recommendations:
For Mutt versions 1.3.28 and earlier, update to a version later than 1.3.28 to resolve the issue.
For Balsa versions 1.2.4 and earlier, update to a version later than 1.2.4 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the IMAP capability until a patch is available.
