CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Vignette StoryServer version 5
Vignette V/5
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to identify valid usernames via brute force attacks by exploiting the default login template (/vgn/login) that generates different responses whether a user exists or not.
Recommendations:
For Vignette StoryServer version 5 and Vignette V/5, consider modifying the default login template to prevent differentiation in responses for existing and non-existing users.
As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the /vgn/login endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation.
