The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a freeze, by accessing a specific URL, such as
C:aux, which is an MS-DOS device name, and possibly other devices.Recommendations:
For Internet Explorer versions 5 and 6, avoid accessing URLs that point to MS-DOS device names, such as
C:aux, to prevent the denial of service.
