A directory traversal issue exists in the "Shell Folders" capability, allowing remote attackers to read arbitrary files by utilizing .. (dot dot) sequences in a "shell:" link.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows Server 2003, consider restricting access to the "Shell Folders" capability until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using "shell:" links that contain ..
