Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Finder in Mac OS X versions 10.2.8 and earlier
Description
The issue arises when directories are dragged from a mounted volume, such as a disk image, resulting in global read/write/execute permissions being set on these directories. This could lead to less restrictive permissions than intended.
Recommendations
For Mac OS X versions 10.2.8 and earlier, consider manually adjusting the permissions of directories after they are copied from a mounted volume to ensure they align with the intended access levels. As a temporary workaround, avoid dragging directories from mounted volumes whenever possible, or restrict access to sensitive directories until a more permanent solution can be applied. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
