| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
mIRC version 6.12
Description
A buffer overflow issue exists when the DCC get dialog window has been minimized and the user opens the minimized window, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a long filename.
Recommendations
For mIRC version 6.12, consider avoiding the use of long filenames when using the DCC get dialog window to minimize the risk of a denial of service. As a temporary workaround, restrict the ability to open minimized DCC get dialog windows until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
