CVE-2004-0473
CVSS v2.0
2.6
Low
| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Opera versions prior to 7.50
Description
The issue is related to an argument injection vulnerability. It does not properly filter "-" characters that begin a hostname in a telnet URI, allowing remote attackers to insert options to the resulting command line. This can lead to overwriting arbitrary files via specific options on different operating systems.
Recommendations
For Opera versions prior to 7.50, update to version 7.50 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of telnet URIs in Opera until a patch is applied. Avoid using the telnet protocol with untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation.
