| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
ppp version 2.4.1
Description:
The issue is caused by an integer underflow in the cbcp.c file of the pppd application, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service by crashing the daemon. This is achieved by sending a CBCP packet with an invalid length value, which causes the application to access an incorrect memory location.
Recommendations:
For ppp version 2.4.1, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue to prevent remote attackers from crashing the daemon.
