CVE-2004-1031
CVSS v2.0
7.2
High
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Fcron versions 2.0.1, 2.9.4, and possibly earlier versions
Description:
The issue allows local users to bypass access restrictions and load an arbitrary configuration file. This is achieved by starting an suid process and pointing the fcronsighup configuration file to a /proc entry that is owned by root but modifiable by the user, such as /proc/self/cmdline or /proc/self/environ.
Recommendations:
For Fcron versions 2.0.1 and 2.9.4, consider restricting access to the fcronsighup configuration file to prevent users from modifying /proc entries.
For earlier versions of Fcron, if affected, apply the same restriction as for versions 2.0.1 and 2.9.4 to mitigate the risk.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
