| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially by triggering a buffer overflow, when a long request is sent to TCP port 1433, which could halt the mssqlserver service.
Recommendations
For Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0, consider restricting access to TCP port 1433 to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limit the length of requests to this port until a more permanent solution is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
