| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Internet Explorer version 6.0
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to bypass the Information Bar prompt for ActiveX and Javascript. This can be achieved via an XHTML page containing an Internet Explorer formatted comment between the DOCTYPE tag and the HTML tag. An example of exploitation is demonstrated using the DesignScience MathPlayer ActiveX plugin.
Recommendations
For Internet Explorer version 6.0, consider disabling the use of ActiveX plugins until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially malicious XHTML pages to minimize the risk of exploitation.
