CVE-2004-2609

CVSS v2.0

2.1

Low

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Symantec PowerQuest DeployCenter version 5.5
Description The issue allows local users to obtain sensitive information, specifically an unencrypted password for a Windows domain account, possibly due to a buffer overflow. This is achieved by invoking the stuffit.com executable with the command "stuffit /f:stuffit.dat" four times.
Recommendations For Symantec PowerQuest DeployCenter version 5.5, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the stuffit.com executable until a patch is available. Avoid using the stuffit.com executable with the /f option and the stuffit.dat file until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
