CVSS v2.0

4.6

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions CVS version 1.12.12 and earlier gcvs (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue allows local users to execute arbitrary code and overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack due to insecure creation of temporary files. Additionally, there are multiple vulnerabilities in the gcvs package that can lead to disruption of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information, which can be exploited by a local attacker.
Recommendations For CVS version 1.12.12 and earlier, update to a version that securely creates temporary files to prevent symlink attacks. For gcvs, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
