CVSS v2.0
5.1
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
HT Editor versions prior to 0.8.0
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow in the ELF parser, which can lead to a heap-based buffer overflow. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted ELF file. Additionally, there are multiple vulnerabilities in the HT package of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system that can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information, and these can be exploited remotely.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 0.8.0, update to version 0.8.0 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the ELF parser until a patch is available.
Avoid using the HT package in the Debian GNU/Linux operating system until the issue is resolved.
