Description
The issue allows attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in CPU consumption and system crash, by renaming a file on a network share. This is due to the SmartScan feature in the Auto-Protect module.
Recommendations
For Symantec Norton AntiVirus versions 2004 and 2005, consider disabling the SmartScan feature in the Auto-Protect module as a temporary workaround until a patch is available.
For Symantec Internet Security versions 2004 and 2005, consider disabling the SmartScan feature in the Auto-Protect module as a temporary workaround until a patch is available.
