CVE-2005-1278

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: tcpdump versions 3.9.1 and earlier
Description: The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an infinite loop, via a zero length, as demonstrated using a GRE packet. This is due to the isis print function, as called by isoclns print, in affected versions of tcpdump.
Recommendations: For tcpdump versions 3.9.1 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the isis print function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
