High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
PostgreSQL versions 7.3.x through 8.0.x
Description:
The issue allows unprivileged users to call certain character conversion functions with malicious values, potentially causing at least a denial of service. A valid login is required to exploit this issue. The character conversion functions are not designed to be safe against malicious arguments.
Recommendations:
For versions 7.3.x through 8.0.x, follow the special upgrade instructions provided in the announcement to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the character conversion functions to minimize the risk of exploitation.
