CVE-2005-2316

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Domain Name Relay Daemon (DNRD) versions prior to 2.19.1
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service due to infinite recursion. This can be achieved via a DNS packet that utilizes message compression in the QNAME and includes two pointers that point to each other, creating a circular buffer.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.19.1, update to version 2.19.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the DNS service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
