CVSS v2.0

7.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions KDE versions 3.2.0 through 3.4.2
Description The issue allows local users to gain root access via a symlink attack on lock files. This is related to the kcheckpass component in KDE.
Recommendations For KDE versions 3.2.0 through 3.4.2, consider restricting access to the kcheckpass component until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the kcheckpass functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
