| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
MPlayer versions 1.0pre7 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the ad pcm.c file, which can be triggered by remote attackers sending crafted PCM audio data. This can be achieved by using a video file with an audio header that contains a large value in a stream format (strf) chunk, allowing the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For MPlayer versions 1.0pre7 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version to mitigate the risk of exploitation, as the current version contains a buffer overflow vulnerability in the ad pcm.c file. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
