CVE-2005-4209

CVSS v2.0

4.3

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Alt-N MDaemon version 8.1.3
Description The issue allows remote attackers to prevent arbitrary users from accessing their inboxes via script tags in the Subject header of an e-mail message. This is possibly due to a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability, which occurs when an application includes user input in its output without proper validation, allowing an attacker to inject scripts into the application.
Recommendations For Alt-N MDaemon version 8.1.3, consider disabling the ability to include script tags in the Subject header of e-mail messages as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the Inbox folder to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the Subject header in the affected webmail client until the issue is resolved.
