CVE-2005-4620
CVSS v2.0
4.6
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WinRAR versions 3.50 and earlier
Description
A buffer overflow issue allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a long command-line argument. However, since the program executes with the privileges of the invoking user and remote programs typically do not have the ability to specify a command-line argument for this program, there may not be a typical attack vector for the issue that crosses privilege boundaries.
Recommendations
For WinRAR versions 3.50 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version to mitigate the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of long command-line arguments to minimize the risk of exploitation.
