CVE-2006-1146

CVSS v2.0

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Alien Arena 2006 Gold Edition version 5.00
Description The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in the Cmd Say f function, located in g cmds.c. This allows remote attackers, who may need to be authenticated, to execute arbitrary code by sending a long message to the server.
Recommendations For Alien Arena 2006 Gold Edition version 5.00, consider restricting access to the Cmd Say f function until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, limit the length of messages that can be sent to the server to prevent exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
