CVE-2006-1647
CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
SMART SynchronEyes Student and Teacher versions 6.0 and earlier
Description:
The issue is caused by a logical programming mistake, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service by sending a large packet to the Teacher discovery port (UDP port 5496). This action causes a thread to terminate and prevents communications on that port.
Recommendations:
For versions 6.0 and earlier, restrict access to the Teacher discovery port (UDP port 5496) to minimize the risk of exploitation. Consider implementing network traffic filtering to block large packets destined for this port until a fix is available.
