| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
SMART SynchronEyes Student and Teacher version 6.0 and possibly earlier versions
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically memory consumption, by sending a certain packet to the Teacher discovery port. This packet causes the software to connect to the attacker's machine and read a value that is used as a parameter to
malloc, leading to the denial of service.Recommendations:
For SMART SynchronEyes Student and Teacher version 6.0 and possibly earlier versions, consider restricting access to the Teacher discovery port as a temporary workaround to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
