Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Mac OS X versions prior to 10.4.6
Description
The issue is related to an unspecified vulnerability in the cg TIFFSetField function, which can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an application crash. This can be achieved by using a crafted TIFF image that triggers a null dereference. The vulnerability affects applications that utilize ImageIO or AppKit.
Recommendations
For Mac OS X versions prior to 10.4.6, update to a version newer than 10.4.6 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of crafted TIFF images in applications that use ImageIO or AppKit until a patch is available.
