Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Intel PROset/Wireless software version 10.1.0.33
Description
The issue concerns the S24EvMon.exe in the Intel PROset/Wireless software, which uses a shared memory section named S24EventManagerSharedMemory with weak permissions. This weakness allows local users to read or modify sensitive data, such as passwords, or cause a denial of service.
Recommendations
For Intel PROset/Wireless software version 10.1.0.33, consider restricting access to the S24EventManagerSharedMemory shared memory section to prevent unauthorized data modification or reading. As a temporary workaround, limiting local user privileges may help minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
